Opatija Riviera – A Mediterranean Destination for Everyone

The Opatija Riviera has unveiled its new promotional film, "Opatija Riviera – A Mediterranean Destination for Everyone,” created through a joint collaboration between the tourist boards of Matulji, Lovran, Opatija, Ičići and Mošćenička Draga. The film presents the destination as a connected, authentic and year-round tourism experience, highlighting its local identity and the diverse experiences that bring together the coast and its lush green hinterland. Rather than offering a traditional showcase of tourist attractions, the film takes viewers on a journey through the past and present of the Opatija Riviera, introducing its people, customs and landscapes. Gastronomy, outdoor activities, wellness, culture and tradition intertwine throughout the film, creating a comprehensive and immersive portrait of the destination.

The symbolic journey begins at the Opatija-Matulji railway station, a place closely associated with the beginnings of tourism development on the Opatija Riviera. The arrival by train serves as a link between the area’s rich tourism heritage and its contemporary identity. We are especially pleased that the film also features scenes from Zvonejske njivi, OPG Ružić - Jarbola, and Mune bell ringers (Pusno društvo Mune). In this shared story of the Opatija Riviera, these scenes bring an authentic Matulji experience to the forefront, showcasing its landscapes, traditions and intangible cultural heritage.

Through a series of evocative scenes, the film captures the defining elements of the Opatija Riviera – the Mediterranean, its green hinterland, local traditions, a distinctive way of life, and the elegance that has been part of the destination’s identity for decades. Particular emphasis is placed on the atmosphere and human stories that give the destination its distinctive character. The film was produced by Level52 from Labin, a multimedia production centre known for its creative approach and use of contemporary technologies.
