The healthiest indigenous cabbage variety – Brgujski Kapuz
According to an analysis conducted in 2018 by the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism in Poreč on cabbage varieties produced in well-known regional centres of this crop in Croatia (Varaždin, Ogulin, Žminj), this cabbage was found to be of the highest quality, outperforming others in 11 out of 14 analysed parameters. The analysis concluded with three key findings: "A product that does not exist on the market,” "Standardise production and processing,” and "Protect it.”
For this reason, at the beginning of 2019, the Association of Brgujski Kapuz Producers "Brgujski Kapuz” was founded in Veli Brgud with the aim of reviving its production and ensuring the protection of its regional origin and authenticity.
