OPG ROBERT KOS
OPG Robert Kos from Rukavac preserves the tradition of beekeeping across three generations, combining expertise, innovation, and family dedication. From just a few beehives in the garden to today’s 350 bee colonies, the farm has grown into a recognizable local brand offering high-quality honey and bee products.Throughout the year, the bees are relocated across the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County – from the island of Cres, through Istria, to Gorski Kotar – resulting in a diverse range of honey varieties (sage, acacia, linden, chestnut, wildflower, and honeydew honey). The products are organic, free from industrial pollutants, and include royal jelly, propolis, beeswax, and pollen, as well as innovative products such as "medolada” (honey spread), honey vinegar, and honey liqueurs from their own distillery.Sales are based on direct contact – in their own shop and at fairs. His wife Ana manages sales and communication with customers, including many tourists. The products of the farm have traveled all over the world as gifts, souvenirs, and proof of quality. The farm continuously invests in equipment, education, and development. The entire family actively participates in all stages of production. Future plans include further connection with tourism and the development of educational content.OPG Kos combines tradition, nature, and family, offering products that reflect the true values of the region they come from.
In 2025, OPG Robert Kos was one of the recipients of the "Sunflower Award for Rural Tourism,” receiving a silver plaque in the category "Beekeeping in Tourism.”
