OPG RUŽIĆ - JARBOLA

On the stone terraces of Zvoneća, known as "Zvonejske njivi,” viticulture has long been an important agricultural activity, and the Jarbola variety has been present in this area for more than a century. The Association of Grape and Wine Producers "Jarbola” was founded in 2009 by several enthusiasts of their homeland, the Zvonejska njivi area, and the Jarbola variety. The association highlights that they are now proud of newly planted vineyards and wines produced under the protected designation of origin "Hrvatsko primorje,” a quality wine with controlled geographical origin. The president of the association is oenology engineer and owner of OPG Ružić, Franko Ružić, in fact the only registered producer of Jarbola wine and sparkling wine. After it was confirmed as an indigenous variety, Jarbola was included in the National List of Recognized Grape Cultivars for the Croatian Littoral subregion. In terms of promotion, this Liburnian sparkling wine and wine are presented at several events such as Bela Nedeja and Wine Ri, mainly in this region due to limited production volumes that do not allow large-scale distribution. OPG Ružić is also a member of the Kvarner Wine project of the Kvarner Tourist Board.

In 2023, OPG Ružić – Jarbola was one of the recipients of the "Sunflower Award for Rural Tourism,” receiving a special recognition in the category "Wine Tourism.”
