Woman for a day by Matuljicious
"Woman for a Day” is an event organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day, with a focus on engaging men and fostering an understanding of women’s experiences through open dialogue and mutual interaction. The program encourages discussion on gender equality and the importance of empathy toward the female perspective, emphasizing innovative and educational content relevant to the local community and contemporary social issues. The program "Woman for a Day” was designed with the aim of raising awareness that achieving gender equality is a shared responsibility of both women and men—women to advocate for their rights, and men to support them in these efforts. A genuine understanding of women’s position and experiences is essential for initiating positive change, and the program seeks to motivate men to recognize these realities. Through personal stories, men are invited to become aware of women’s perspectives that often remain invisible—from subtle everyday pressures to deeply rooted expectations and prejudices.
The "Lipa Remembers" Memorial Centre was chosen as the venue for the program due to its mission of continuously highlighting the devastating consequences of failing to respect fundamental human rights. Lipa is a place from which the protection of all human rights—including women’s rights—should and must be addressed. In the context of the event, it is important to note that the linden tree symbolizes unity, peace, and protection. As a tree of gentle yet enduring strength and nurturing, feminine energy, it connects memory, reconciliation, and a sense of belonging, giving the event a profound and dignified meaning. The event includes multiple activities scheduled throughout the month of March. Its goal is to bring together psychologists, activists, writers, artists, and professors whose knowledge and experience contribute to building a more inclusive society for women. It provides an opportunity for participants to attend expert lectures, as well as to actively engage through organized quizzes and workshops.
