MORČIĆ BREWERY

The Morčić Brewery in Veli Brgud is the first craft brewery in the Liburnia area. The Kalčić family has converted the ground floor of a rustic family house into a small beer production facility and embarked on a new life and business adventure that originated as a hobby. They currently produce three types of beer – American Pale Ale, India Pale Ale, and a dark beer, Chocolate Stout. The Polytechnic of Karlovac conducted a quality analysis of Croatian beers, and the first prize went to Morčić Brewery for their Chocolate Stout.The name "Morčić” was chosen because it symbolizes Elvio’s return home to his coastal region, while also promoting the local area; therefore, a story is embedded within the product itself. The beer labels feature descriptions of some of the region’s landmarks. The beer "tells the story” of Morčić, the torpedo, and there are plans for the dark beer to also feature the story of the bell-ringers and carnival.
